Winter Spiti. Raw. Quiet. Unforgettable.
Experience snow-covered villages, frozen landscapes and the quieter side of Spiti Valley on a carefully planned winter journey with comfortable stays, private transport and local route support.
Winter Spiti. Without Pushing the Extreme.
We love showing travellers the winter side of Spiti, but we don't believe a trip should be planned simply to experience the harshest possible conditions.
Our Winter Spiti tours are generally planned during the more practical late-winter season, when you can still experience snow-covered landscapes and the quiet character of Spiti while avoiding the deepest part of the Himalayan winter.
This period can offer a beautiful balance of snow, winter landscapes and more manageable travel conditions.
Final departures always depend on actual weather and road accessibility.Winter Is Still There. The Journey Is More Practical.
Snow-Covered Spiti
You can still experience white landscapes, snow-covered villages and the distinctive winter character of the valley.
Avoid the Harshest Winter
We don't build these packages around experiencing extreme cold simply for the sake of calling it a winter adventure.
More Sustainable Travel
The trip is planned around conditions that are more suitable for normal sightseeing, road travel and overnight stays.
Flexible Route Planning
Winter conditions can change quickly, so the final route remains flexible according to snowfall and road accessibility.
We generally don't position this as a December–January extreme-winter expedition. Our focus is helping you experience winter Spiti when the journey makes practical sense, rather than pushing travel during the harshest conditions.
What to Expect. Before You Go.
Winter changes the way Spiti is explored. The route remains familiar, but the pace, road conditions and sightseeing plan need more flexibility than a regular summer journey.
Same Spiti. A Completely Different Landscape.
Winter strips away the crowds and transforms familiar villages, valleys and mountain roads into a quieter, slower Himalayan journey.
Places mentioned in the itinerary are planned based on normal winter accessibility, but snowfall, black ice or temporary road closures can change the sightseeing plan at short notice.
8 Days Through Winter Spiti.
During the winter season, Spiti is approached and returned through the Shimla–Kinnaur route. The Manali–Chandratal side remains inaccessible, making this the practical route for a winter journey into the valley.
Begin your Winter Spiti journey from Chandigarh and travel towards the mountains. Continue through Shimla and gradually gain altitude as the scenery changes from the plains to the colder Himalayan landscape around Narkanda.
Leave Narkanda and continue towards Kinnaur through mountain roads and the Sutlej Valley. Reach Kalpa, where winter views of the surrounding mountains make for a beautiful introduction to the higher Himalayas.
Travel deeper into the high Himalayas as the landscape changes dramatically from Kinnaur towards Spiti. Continue through the cold-desert terrain and remote mountain settlements before reaching Tabo for the night.
Continue from Tabo towards Kaza through the dramatic winter landscapes of Spiti Valley. Depending on road and weather conditions, sightseeing stops can be included along the way before reaching Kaza.
Spend the day exploring the winter side of Kaza and surrounding villages. Depending on snow and road accessibility, the plan may include Key Monastery, Kibber, Chicham, Langza and other nearby locations.
Winter sightseeing remains flexible, as temporary snowfall can make some village roads inaccessible even when the main highway remains open.
Leave Kaza and begin the return journey through the same winter Himalayan corridor. Travel past the dramatic landscapes of Spiti and continue towards Nako for your overnight halt.
Continue back through the Kinnaur region as you gradually descend from the colder high-altitude landscapes. Follow the Sutlej Valley and mountain roads before reaching Sarahan for your final overnight stay.
After breakfast, leave Sarahan and continue towards Shimla before descending to Chandigarh. Reach Chandigarh and conclude your Winter Spiti journey after eight days through the Himalayas.
During this season, the Spiti circuit through Chandratal and Manali is not part of the itinerary. The journey enters and returns through the Kinnaur side.
Snowfall, black ice and temporary road closures can affect travel times or local sightseeing. The itinerary may therefore be adjusted according to actual conditions during your trip.

See Spiti in Snow. Travel at the Right Time.
Winter Spiti needs more planning than a regular Himalayan trip. We'll help you choose suitable travel dates, the right route, winter-ready stays and a private vehicle for the journey.
We generally recommend March to around 20 April rather than pushing travel during the harshest winter months.
Travel into Spiti through the Shimla–Kinnaur side and return through the same accessible Himalayan corridor.
Your journey is planned with private road transport and accommodation suitable for colder conditions.
Snowfall and road conditions can change quickly, so we help adjust the route and sightseeing whenever required.
